Modern Warfare 3 Zombies Cryo Freeze Ammo Mod Location
In Modern Warfare 3 Zombies mode you get the Freezer Burn mission that requires you to have Cryo Freeze Ammo Mod applied to your weapon. This mod is the only one that will help you complete the mission steps of slowing down Zombies and Hellhounds. You probably can’t craft it yet. The only option is to find it somewhere in MW3 Zombies. I was frustrated because it was not dropping for me. Even when I got it the task of slowing enemies down didn’t go as easy as I thought it will. It can be found as a random drop in various loot containers. It is also a reward from some missions. After extensive research, or rather playing dozens of hours, here are the best ways to find Cryo Freeze Ammo Mod in MWZ and complete Freezer Burn mission.
How to get Cryo Freeze Ammo Mod in Modern Warfare 3 Zombies?
The easiest way to get it is from Take Up Arms tier 1 mission in Modern Warfare 3 Zombies. But this is only one mod and you probably won’t be able to finish Freezer Burn with it. The most certain way of getting the Cryo Freeze Ammo Mod to drop is to do contracts. Reward portals that appear once you complete contracts contain Cryo Freeze ammo. Try the Spore Control contracts. I’ve also had luck with just clearing the small Aether Nest POI and spore infected strongholds. They are buildings where you have to destroy yellow glowing spores. Once you do, there are rare loot chests inside that usually contain ammo mods, Cryo Freeze among them. Lastly, there’s a special buff you can purchase for $2000 called Elemental Pop. When you drink it bullets trigger random ammo mods and it will sometimes freeze enemies.
How to Slow Hellhounds and Zombies for MWZ Freezer Burn Mission?
After you obtain the Cryo Freeze Ammo Mod use it and it’ll be slotted in your active weapon. You’ll notice that slowing zombies is not the same as killing them with cryo damage. You need to shoot a zombie or a hellhound several times for the slowing effect to trigger. So, you must not kill them immediately. Try avoiding headshots. My advice is to go to medium tier area (yellow colored area of the map) and shoot the zombies there. They have a larger health pool so will not die as easily.
Hellhounds are an even bigger annoyance. They explode almost immediately when shot. My advice is to shoot the from afar for lower damage and hope to slow them down with freeze before killing them. Avoid headshots at all cost. They also rarely spawn. Run around the edges of the medium threat area hoping to spawn them next to zombie spawns. It took about three deployments to get done with Freezer Burn solo. It is easier in a group if all of you have Cryo Freeze Ammo Mod applied.
