MW3 Controller Settings Bug, Can't Edit Button Layout

When it comes to video games – and especially fast-paced ones such as first-person shooters – there are few things that are as important as having the right button settings. You will want to set this up just the way you like it so that you can have the best possible playing performance. However, there seems to be a problem with this in CoD MW3 where you can’t edit your button layout. This is happening on all platforms – PC, PS, and Xbox – so it affects both keyboard and controllers. So if you are getting the MW3 Controller Settings Bug where you can’t edit the button layout, here’s what you can do to try and fix it.

This is a problem that has been around in the game for a long time. Since the beta, in fact. As such, the solution that worked then still works now – at least on the PS. To fix this on the PS5, first go into Settings. From there, proceed to Saved Data and Game, followed by App Settings -> Saved Data (PS5) -> Console Storage -> MWII -> and select the Delete option here. Note that doing this will delete all of your campaign progress in the game as well, but you should be able to edit your button layout after that. Of course, if you have progressed far in the game, this might not be the best option, but as of right now, it’s only solution available.

As for Xbox and PC versions of MW3, there doesn’t appear to be any such fix. The game has only recently been released, and – hopefully – the devs are going to release a hotfix soon that is going to resolve this bug. In the meantime, there’s nothing else to do but be patient.
