Borderlands 3 Revenge of The Cartels & Mayhem Mode 2.0 Are Live

Mayhem Mode 2.0 is ye olde Mayhem Mode only better. It is still unlocked after you finish the game’s campaign, and still ramps up the difficulty, but now it’s much more “varied, lasting and rewarding”. There will be 25+ new modifiers, rated as easy, medium, hard or very hard. Each of the 10 difficulty levels will use a mix of these ratings, with the modifiers being randomly selected. This includes stuff like a big head mode called Galaxy Brain (ha-ha!) and Healing Drone, one where enemies get healing drones.

There are eight new legendary weapons that Mayhem Mode bosses can drop, and they start appearing after Mayhem level 5. Aside from that, the stats of all the gear you find will slowly improve as Mayhem levels increase.

Revenge of the Cartels, on the other hand, is an even that will be on the menu until June 4th, and it introduces a new area, new enemies, challenges and gear. It’s about you helping Maurice after he somehow ends up being indebted to Joey Ultraviolet, the bossman of the Eridium Cartel. You’ll need to hunt him down in Villa Ultraviolet, his tropical mansion, but to do this, you’ll have to hunt down cartel operatives and their entourages across the galaxy.

When you get to the villa, you’ll have to fight the three gangs and their underbosses, each of whom has their own legendary loot pool. To make things more varied, you’ll never encounter the same gang twice in a row. There will be new cosmetic items as well, locked behind 18 timed challenges.

We've explored the mission choices, like what happens when you side with Holder or Ramsden in On The Blood Path, or when you tell Rhys to keep or lose mustache in Atlas at Last.
