Not for a second did I doubt that Borderlands 3 was going to be a huge success, Reddit posts about the Epic Games Store being the devil himself be damned. However, as it turns out, the game’s doing shockingly well. At least, according to the figures recently released by 2K Games. Borderlands 3 has sold five million copies in just the first five days; in other words, by now, it’s probably significantly more. That’s a fifty percent increase from Borderlands 2.

The high numbers don’t stop there. According to 2K, Borderlands 3 is the fastest-selling game in the franchise. It’s also the highest-selling 2K title on PC ever, with seventy percent of sales being digital, despite skipping Steam for the first six months. Lastly, the success of Borderlands 3 has propelled the franchise to over one billion dollars, making it the second 2K franchise to manage to do that. And, the game is only in its infancy; it’s coming out on Steam later, and then there’s the Game of the Year edition later down the pipeline. Borderlands 3 isn’t done, not by a long shot.

So, there you have it, folks. Borderlands 3 is doing really, really well. No amount of screeching about Epic Store exclusivity could stop it. Shocking, I know; who would’ve thought?
