How to Beat Raphael in Baldur's Gate 3
Raphael is, without a doubt, one of the hardest bosses in BG3. This powerful Cambion appears near the start of the game, where he offers you a way to heal your Mind Flayer tadpole problem, in exchange for your soul. Since this is a very bad deal (at least for you), you will no doubt want to take the fight to him. Though, once you have done that, you will soon learn that defeating him is not an easy thing to do. He has 666 HP, is surrounded by other strong lackeys, and he has a lot of potent abilities at his disposal. If you want to know how to beat Raphael in Baldur’s Gate 3, we are going to show you the best methods you can employ to take him down.
How to Defeat Raphael in BG3
If you’re wondering how to kill Raphael in BG3, the first thing that you will need to do is to enter the House of Hope. This is where you will then be able to fight Raphael himself. There are several things you can do in this area, but when it comes to beating Raphael, the most important ones include – freeing Hope and convincing Yurgir to fight against Raphael.
Now, as for the fight itself, it’s going to be a tricky one regardless of what you do. You can easily get unlucky with the RNG and suffer a TPK. Get ready to do a lot of reloading if the dice aren’t on your side. Once the battle starts, you should first focus on taking out the four pillars that are in the corners of the room. Doing this will cause Raphael to be stunned and will also weaken him permanently. Note that his minions will often try and disarm you. Because of that, party members that don’t rely on using weapons (such as a bare-fisted Monk and most magic users) are really useful. Also, it’s a good idea to keep your party spread out, as Raphael likes to use AoE attacks. A great strategy here is to try and get lucky with the Hold Monster spell.
If he fails his save against it, it will leave him paralyzed and essentially defenseless, allowing you to easily crit him (for example, with the rogues’ Sneak Attack) for a lot of damage. Summons are also a good idea, as they can keep him preocuppied with them – instead of focusing on your and your party. When you manage to take him down, you will get the Legendary Helldusk Armor – one of the best armors in the game – as your reward. We’d like to thank Reddit users for helping us with many of these tactics.
Hope is a level 10 cleric and she has divine intervention, which helped me win the fight in one try by granting everyone a long rest during combat.
if you use globe of invulnerability it will trivialize the fight. You’ll get 10 rounds of invincibility while you plug down rafael or his soul towers or the orthon at the least. Your entire party can huddle inside of it and rafael or the orthon never try to enter. It might get a little crowded with cambions but they still cant hurt you so its as if theyre not there anyways
