Can You Dominate the Netherbrain with a Critical in BG3
Is it possible to dominate the Netherbrain with a Critical Success roll in Baldur’s Gate 3? During one of the final stages of Baldur’s Gate 3 Act 3, we will finally encounter the Elder Brain face to… well, brain. In that moment, with the help of the Emperor and the Netherstones, we will try to put the Brain under our control. However, we will be put in front of increasingly impossible roles in order to Dominate the brain. Is it possible to do it? Here’s what happens if you roll 20 against the Netherbrain in Baldur’s Gate 3.
Can You Dominate the Netherbrain with a Critical Roll in Baldur’s Gate 3
So, you’ve beaten both Lord Gortash and Orin. You have their Netherstones in your hands. Alongside the third one from General Ketheric, you’ve snatched from him in Act 2. In theory, with all three Netherstones, you should be able to control and dominate the Elder Brain. After all, if Ketheric, Gortash and Orin were able to do it, why not you as well? However, both you and the Emperor couldn’t have been more wrong! With the help of the Crown, the Elder Brain has evolved into the Netherbrain. In its new form, it is much more powerful than you could ever imagine. In order to beat it, you will first need to roll 20 or better, then 25, then 30, and finally – 99!
And while the first three rolls are manageable, the final dice rolling of 99 is absolutely impossible. Not in a normal way, anyway. However, players are wondering what happens if you roll 20 (critical success). The game’s rules say that 20 is a critical success. Hence, in theory, you should be able to dominate the Netherbrain with a Critical in BG3, right? Unfortunately, wrong. Even if you roll 20 all four times, you will still not be able to dominate the Netherbrain. However, it has been confirmed that with each succesful roll, the Netherbrain will get a debuff to health for the final battle. That means that there is some value in rolling 20 (critical success) against the Netherbrain 99 challenge. So there you have it. You can not Dominate the Netherbrain with a Critical roll, but it will affect the Brain in the final battle, where it will have less health.
