Lost Items In Animal Crossing New Horizons

Animal Crossing New Horizons Lost Items are items that you can find randomly while exploring the island. The Lost Items in ACNH are like books or notepads, and when you find them, you have to return them to their proper owners. They will then give you a present as a reward, usually with useful items inside. Unfortunately, all this is easier said than done. So, we’re going to show you what you need to do in our Lost Items In Animal Crossing New Horizons guide.

What to Do with Animal Crossing New Horizons Lost Items?

What you’re supposed to do when you come across Lost Items in Animal Crossing New Horizons is return it to the person that misplaced it. Unfortunately, the item itself is not going to give you any useful info on whose it is. Inspecting the item just tells you what you already know – somebody lost it. So, you’re gonna have to go from person to person until you find the correct one. Talk with each inhabitant and ask them if they dropped the item. Eventually, you’ll find who the Lost Item belongs to.

Once you do locate the villager that lost the item, and return the book to them, you’ll get a gift as a reward. These can range from furniture, resources, clothes etc. The only real thing that presents a problem is that you have to search every person to find the one you’re looking for. The only real help that we can give you is that, if the Lost Item is near a house, the villager living in that house is probably the one that lost it. Other than that, you’re on your own. At least you’ll only find Lost Items about once or twice a week.

That’s really all you need to know about Animal Crossing New Horizons Lost Items. In case you’re stuck with something else in the game, we have a whole bunch of other New Horizons guides for you. We’ve written How to Move & Rotate Furniture, How to Remove Villagers, How to Get Star Fragments & Magic Wand, and many more.

I left the lost item for days now it just says what is this again? And I can’t ask any villagers? What do I do with it?

What do you do if you’ve had the item for a few days? The something lost option doesn’t come up when I talk to my villagers anymore. Any advice?

I think as of the last update, you can investigate the item! I just got a book and it says ‘An old planner that’s seen plenty of wear and tear. The last page has tally marks… They are up to 12 now.’
Also you get an friendship point or two if you return it to the correct person without talking to anyone else!

It actually does give you a hint who it belongs to if you inspect the item. Based on what it tells you, you can figure out the personality type of the villager who lost it. For example, it may say “it’s a comic with a girl on the front with big sparkly eyes. She’s must be the hero.” This item belongs to a peppy villager.

I had a lost item and forgot about it. I came back on a few days later and I can’t do anything with it. Is there a way I can still return it to it’s owner or is it worthless now?

After one day it’ll turn into a “What was this again?” You can throw it away in a trash can or sell it off as trash to nooks cranny

I’ve had one for two days now, so… not so much with the “one day” theory.
