DIY Recipes & Crafting in Animal Crossing New Horizons
DIY recipes are the basis of the crafting system in Animal Crossing New Horizons. They’re basically blueprints which allow you to create tools, furniture and items, provided you have the appropriate materials. You’ll need to learn a recipe before you can craft the item, and there are multiple ways of obtaining new recipes. If you’re having a hard time wrapping your head around the whole thing, this guide will tell you all about DIY recipes & crafting in Animal Crossing New Horizons.
How to learn new DIY recipes?
You’ll encounter your first recipe when you get an in-game letter (in the post box next to your tent) with a Simply DIY Workbench schematic. You won’t be able to learn it on the spot. You’ll first have to visit Resident Services, which is where Tom Nook will tell you about crafting. He’ll make you craft a fishing rod, then send you off. After that, you’ll be able to learn the recipe you’ve obtained by opening up your inventory (X) and selecting it. From then on, you’ll be able to check all your known recipes using your phone.
When it comes to getting more recipes, you’ll have several options. You can take workshop lessons at Resident Services, buy them using the game’s currency, get them as gifts from other villagers or find them out in the world.
How to craft items in ACNH?
In the early days, you’ll only be allowed to craft at the workshop in the Resident Services tent. Once you’ve obtained enough materials and the aforementioned DIY recipe, you’ll be able to craft your own workbench, which you can place in a more convenient spot. This will save you the trouble of going to the Resident Services each time you want to craft a new tool, or a piece of furniture.
