How to Unlock the Shotgun in Alone in the Dark
Can’t figure out how to unlock the shotgun in Alone in the Dark? I don’t blame you. The only way to do this is to find three hidden collectibles, which become available as you progress through the game. I mean, the shotgun does seem to unlock on its own if you progress far enough, but it sure will come in handy before that. So, let’s find out how to get the shotgun in Alone in the Dark.
How to Get the Shotgun in Alone in the Dark?
To unlock and get the shotgun in Alone in the Dark, you need to find three specific collectibles, aka lagniappes. More specifically, you need to complete the set called Lost Children. The first lagniappe you can find pretty much at the very start, as soon as you get into the house proper. It’s in the Reception room, right off the Stair Hall. Approach the counter of the Clerk’s Office, and that’s where you’ll find the Rubber Stamp.
Now progress through the game until you go through the section set in the French Quarter of New Orleans. After that’s over, you can explore through more of the house. What you want to do is go through the door on the left in the gallery, then walk into the second room on the left, aka Batiste’s room. There’s a coffee table on the left with a fan on it. Next to the fan is a magazine, and on said magazine is the Fountain Pen lagniappe.
The third and final lagniappe you need to unlock the shotgun in Alone in the Dark becomes available after the Oil Rig section. You’ll be back in the Small Parlor. Interact with the bag you picked up there to get the palette knife, then use it on the door of the Drawing Room to open it. There are several items to pick up inside, but for our purposes, head straight across the room to the table under the window. Pick up the Dog Collar Lagniappe from the bottom shelf. The shotgun cabinet in the Small Parlor will now be open, so go back there and take the gun.
