Lawbreakers Hosting Another Beta This Weekend
Lawbreakers, the upcoming multiplayer first person shooter from Cliffy B and Boss Key Productions, will be having another round of beta testing. The beta will start on July 28th, and you can already preload it on Steam. Best of all, it’s open to everyone. Yes, even you.
Lawbreakers is a fast-paced FPS that aims to revive the golden age of the genre. If you haven’t been around back then, the closest comparison among modern games would probably be Quake Champions. And it’s got potential, too, as it’s being helmed by the man who designed much of the Unreal Tournament games.
If you’ve played it during a previous round of beta, you’ll be happy to know a lot has changed. There’s a tutorial now, as well as full blown character customization. Some new features regarding Twitch integration have been added, and all of the classes have been tweaked based on feedback (Wraith has been severely nerfed, for instance, which will turn many frowns upside down).
The matchmaking system has been polished as well – it now takes into account player performance, for starters. It also treats groups as having a higher skill rating than each member alone, arguing that communication and coordination give them an edge.
Other than that, it’s mostly what you’d expect – maps have been polished, bugs have been ironed, etc. There’s still a bunch of known issues, though. If you want to read about the changes (or the persisting bugs) in detail, we suggest you go and take a look at the full patch notes.
Lawbreakers is going to launch on PC and Playstation 4 on August 8th, and it’s going to cost $30. This is your last chance to try it out for free, so better jump on it if you have even the slightest bit of interest.
