Pokemon GO Chicago Fest Bonus Duration Extended to July 27th
Niantic has decided to prolong the bonuses earned by trainers during the Pokemon GO Fest in Chicago. The bonuses where supposed to expire on Monday, July 24th. Instead, they’ve been extended until Thursday, July 27th, 5 PM PDT. Players will have an extra 72 hours to pick up double XP, Stardust, and Candy, as well as increased encounters and reduced hatching and buddy distances.
As has been reported all over the place, the Pokemon GO Fest in Chicago didn’t go over too well. Trainers could barely play the game due to connection and a bunch of other issues. As an apology, Niantic awarded everybody with $100 worth of Poke Coins and granted everyone refunds. On top of that, they decided to unlock all of the bonuses that were supposed to be earned by participants catching Pokemon. Considering that most people couldn’t even start the thing, there really wasn’t any other course of action.
The bonuses where supposed to end on July 24th at 5 PM PDT. However, Niantic announced on the Pokemon GO Twitter account that they’re extending the bonus period for 72 hours. In other words, the bonuses now expire on Thursday, July 27th, at 5 PM PDT. So, all trainers that want to earn a whole bunch of Stardust, Candy and XP have an extra three days to do so. You’ll also run into a lot more Pokemon than usual. On top of that, the distances for hatching and for your buddy to find candy are reduced.
In case you need a reminder, here are the bonuses that you can enjoy until Thursday:
- Double Stardust
- Double Candy
- Double XP
- Increased Pokémon encounters
- Reduced hatching distance
- Reduced buddy distance
That, in addition to the arrival of Legendary Pokemon, should be enough to get trainers out and about. Despite the fiasco in Chicago, Niantic has still introduced some engaging new stuff to the game. See you out there!
