Nintendo Switch Online App Live for iOS and Android
The Nintendo Switch Online app has been released for both Android devices and iPhones. Currently, you can only download it. You probably won;t be able to log in, since Nintendo is still working on the servers. For starters, the app will only work with Splatoon 2, and it must be connected with a Nintendo Switch account in order for you to sign in.
Nintendo has launched the Switch online app for iPhones and Android phones. For those that need a reminder, the Nintendo Switch phone app will be required for voice chat, setting up private lobbies, and other social gaming features. Originally, the app was supposed to launch on July 21st, but apparently, Nintendo decided to release it a little earlier.
Currently, the app doesn’t do much. In fact, it doesn’t do anything. You can download it, but you probably won’t be able to log in. This is because Nintendo is still working on the servers. And even then, the first game that will support the app will be Splatoon 2, which goes live on July 21st. Perhaps Nintendo released the app earlier so that they could iron out a few kinks before Splatoon 2 launches. Nobody wants a reprise of the Pokemon GO launch.
To sign into the app, you need to log in using your Nintendo account. More specifically, it requires an account that’s connected to a Nintendo Switch. In other words, your old Nintendo accounts won’t do. Once you do log in, you’ll be able to participate in making history. This is the first time that Nintendo has provided this kind of service to their customers, which other consoles have been offering for years.
While we’re on the subject, it’s worth noting that some fans are second-guessing Nintendo’s methods. To be frank, separating the voice chat and other stuff onto a separate phone app sounds incredibly clunky and impractical. Still, it’s better than nothing, I guess.
