Horizon Zero Dawn Shard Farming - Where to grind shards
Shards are the common currency used across the world of Horizon Zero Dawn. They’re pieces of metal, and you can trade them for weapons, armor and modifications. The best way to obtain them is by selling unwanted equipment. If you’re playing the newly released New Game Plus mode, you’re going to need a lot of them. In this guide, we’re going to show you the best Horizon Zero Dawn shard farming methods.
Best way to grind shards
There are several good ways to go about grinding shards. Our favorite two differ in the amount of preparation required:
- Thunderjaw farming: This is the more lucrative option, but it’s also more work. You’ll need to know how to kill a Thunderjaw, craft some tearblast arrows, get quality weapons and mods, and whatever else you may need. There’s a good spot northeast of Meridian. When you kill the beast, you just need to save the game and reload, and it will respawn. Repeat until you’re out of ammo/patience.
- Grazer farming: Grazers are low effort, but they’re also low cost. There’s a pack of them at the Nora Hunting Grounds. Just shoot the tanks on their backs for easy kills. The best parts is that you don’t have to sit through loading screens – just restart the trial over and over again until you’re sick of it.
We like both methods, since they complement each other. The first one is great when you’re in the mood for some work, while the latter is better when you just want to play on autopilot – all you have to do is aim for the canisters. We’ll update the guide if we discover another lucrative grind. In case you know of another cool way to quickly earn shards, be sure to share it in the comments.
