Overwatch Update Decreasing Loot Box Duplicates Now Live on PTR
There’s a new Overwatch update available on the Public Test Region. The update will bring several huge new changes to the game. According to game director Jeff Kaplan, it will drastically reduce duplicates in loot boxes. Additionally, it will overhaul how Highlights work, allowing you to capture your own and save them on your machine.
Blizzard has another update for Overwatch live on the Public Test Region, and it’s huge. They’re overhauling several aspects of the game in ways that fans have been asking for for a very long time. Jeff Kaplan detailed the changes in a video on the game’s official YouTube channel, and you can check it out at the bottom of the article.
For one, the new update should decrease loot box duplicates by a large margin. Of course, there’s no way to completely eradicate duplicates since, as Kaplan points out, the game doesn’t have infinite content. However, Blizzard aims to reduce them significantly. As for credits, they plan to balance that out by giving you more credits in loot boxes. According to Kaplan, you might even score more credits than before.
The second major overhaul is happening to the Highlights system. Now players will be able to capture their own highlights by hitting whichever button they’ve mapped Capture to. This will then be saved in the Highlights collection alongside the five auto-captured highlights. Your Highlights will have a separate section called Recently Captured.
You’ll be able to capture up to 32 Highlights, which you can then offload either to your console’s media library or to your Windows directory on PC. Another great detail for PC players is that all of them will be able to output the video in 4K and 60fps. This goes even for those that are playing the game on lower settings because they have a less powerful setup.
