Minecraft Java Edition Gets World of Color Update
Minecraft (the Java version of it, at least) has been updated to version 1.12. This update brings the World of Color to the game, adding an expanded palette and allowing for more customization. It also adds the recipe book, the new advancements system and parrots which cannot be fed crackers. They’ve released a trailer with some impressive buildings made by players using the new version of the game.
The game now uses the Jonni Palette 0.2 to allow you to color wool, sheep, shulker boxes, banners, terracotta, beds and concrete. More objects can be painted, and they can be painted with a broader array of colors. As we’ve mentioned, they’ve added a new pet, and some more stuff they didn’t elaborate on, like the knowledge book or recipe book. They’re pretty self-explanatory, though. The text-to-speech narrator is a great accessibility feature – it should help people with impaired vision take part in chat on multiplayer servers.

How far we’ve come in these six or so years. It seems like only yesterday Minecraft was a PC-only game selling early access to a handful of hardcore fans. Fast forward to now, it’s out on every imaginable platform, with yearly conventions held for fans, present in every household with internet access (and/or a child), used in classrooms around the world, and it’s still growing larger by the day.
