Overwatch Anniversary Event Ends With Double XP This Weekend
The Overwatch Anniversary event is slowly drawing to a close. To really hammer it home, Blizzard will be rewarding the players with Double XP Weekend. During the final leg of the event, players will be able to earn XP and loot boxes twice as quick from June 8th to June 12th. Double XP Weekend will go live on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
The Second Anniversary of Overwatch was certainly a blast, judging by the fan reaction. There’s new dance emotes, Legendary skins, and a whole lot more stuff to reward participating in the event. The final leg of the Overwatch Anniversary is the Double XP Weekend, lasting from June 8th to June 12th. As for the exact hours, it will start at 5 PM PDT/6 PM EST/2 AM CEST and end at 11:59 PM PDT.
You can probably guess from the name what the finale of the event is all about. Players will be earning those loot boxes at twice the speed. This is a pretty great chance to grab those boxes and hope that you’ll get some of the event-exclusive stuff.
Pretty much everything that gets you XP in Overwatch will now net you double the points. The only exemption is the First Win of the Day bonus, which is staying at 1.500 XP. However, everything listed below will be earning you twice the XP.
- Time spent in a match
- Completing a match
- Completing consecutive matches
- Winning a match
- Backfilling a match in progress
- Earning medals
The Double XP Weekend will be available across all platforms that you can play Overwatch on: PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Considering how notoriously difficult it is to unlock the event-exclusive cosmetics, you’ll probably want to take part this weekend. Perhaps this is Blizzard’s way of helping players out to get those loot boxes.
