It’s no secret that the story in Destiny left a lot to be desired. It wasn’t at the core of the game, but many players ended up underwhelmed just the same. One of the bigger complaints a lot of players have had about the first Destiny was the story. It promised a lot, but delivered very little. Fortunately, Bungie is promising to set things straight this time around. They’re giving the story center stage in the Destiny 2 campaign. Gamers will be able to play many more story mission than before. There’ll also be more cinematic cutscenes to further the story and help you better understand the in-game world.

What we Know About the Story in Destiny 2

The story so far has been an excellent build-up to the in-game events. The Red Legion, part of The Cabal, has laid waste to The Tower, stripping the Guardians of their powers and scattering the Vanguard in the process. The leader of the Red Legion, Dominus Ghaul, firmly believes that The Cabal, not the humans, deserve to be Guardians. So, they mount a huge invasion to conquer the Light and the Traveler for themselves.

Fortunately, a number of Guardians and other survivors have banded together in different parts of the Solar System and are mounting a counter-offensive. Your job will be to travel around the different planets and moons, trying to unite the resistance to fight the Red Legion off and reclaim your home. On your journey, you’ll “discover an arsenal of weapons and devastating new combat abilities.” The best part is, the Vanguard will have a more active role in the game. The characters that you know and love will sometimes join you on missions as allies. Sounds like there will be some truly epic moments in the story of Destiny 2.
