Prey loses top of UK Charts to Mario Kart due to 600 sales

We are used to big new games taking the weekly charts in UK on the week of their release, but the mighty Mario Kart managed to keep it at bay – by a mere 600 sales. Prey is a multiplatformer, but Switch still lacks really big games apart from The Legend of Zelda: The Breath of the Wild, so it makes sense that an excellent Mario Kart game is sticking to the charts.

Prey is an action-adventure FPS with a twist. Although the original Prey, which came out in 2006 was marred with technical problems, it showed a lot of potential. Its actual sequel was cancelled in 2014, but the name and the broader themes were incorporated in this year’s version of the game. Another spiritual predecessor is System Shock, as Arkane wanted to have several means of progression in the game.

On the other hand, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is an enhanced version of 2014’s Mario Kart 8, specially improved for Nintendo Switch. The port features additional content, as well as five additional playable characters, which include Bowser Jr., Dry Bones, King Boo, and the Boy and Girl Inklings from Splatoon. This version of the game also includes the ability for players to carry two items at once, and additional kart parts.

Other games in the top 5 include GTA V, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and Lego Worlds. Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 has had a huge drop from last week’s number 2 to this weeks number 13, while Little Nightmares went from 4 to 12.Top 10 still holds some of the big names of the previous few weeks, such as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Horizon: Zero Dawn and Ghost Recon: Wildlands.
