Twitch Reveals New Premium Subscription Models
Twitch revealed recently that they’re preparing to launch the beta for new subscription models. Soon, viewers will be able to subscribe for $9.99 and $24.99. The extra money will allow streamers to give their viewers more perks, while paying viewers will help the partnered streamers to unlock said perks more quickly.
Twitch announced new premium subscription models that will be going live soon. The new tiers will be in beta, and they’ll cost $9.99 and $24.99 (the subscriptions so far cost $4.99). Of course, the new models will only be available for streamers partnered with Twitch that opt into the beta (and their paying fans).
Most of the new rewards both viewers and streamers will get revolve around different ways of communication within the communities. For example, fans paying for higher-tier subscriptions will help streamers unlock new emotes faster. How? Well, the ten-dollar subscription is worth two subscriber counts, while twenty-five dollars brings six subscriber counts.
Additionally, the new subscription models will allow streamers that participate in the beta to send custom messages to their community “upon first subscribing”, which is a cool little feature, I guess. On top of that, you’ll be able to get access to exclusive emotes. Now, whether that’s actually worth the money is completely up to you. The people at Twitch are also considering adding some very sought-after features, such as gifting subscriptions to other people. They’re expecting to have that up and running by the end of the year.
The new subscription models will work pretty much the same as the original, five-dollar one. It’ll get renewed automatically each month. The plan is to come out of beta in a few weeks, making the new system “universally available” (for partnered channels, of course). In the beginning, though, only channels that sign up for the beta will get access. Twitch is planning to make this a “rolling beta”, meaning they’ll be adding new channels to the program weekly.
