Uncharted: The Lost Legacy new info on the development, story and combat
Uncharted: A Thief’s End was quite an extraordinary adventure and Naughty Dog seems to be bent on bringing us a little more of the same. However, there is a new flavor – in The Lost Legacy the lead characters are women, and they pack a punch. We are talking about Chloe, a treasure hunter, who was introduced in Uncharted 2 and Nadine, a gun for hire, who appeared in A Thief’s End.
Creative director, Shaun Escayg says that they decided on this duo because they are different. “Chloe is spontaneous and impulsive, where Nadine is by the book, structured. That made for a good pairing.” The two will meet some 12 months after the end of Uncharted 4. Chloe will be looking into the mysteries of India’s Western Ghats mountains, and will hire Nadine due to her history with Asav, who we assume will be the chief antagonist.
The game will be using one hub area, much like Uncharted 4’s Madagascar, but it will be even bigger. The team originally wanted to go bigger for A Thief’s End as well, but at the time they were a little pressed for time. The updated production process will allow more teams working on the same locations simultaneously.
New combat gear is included as well, with the silenced pistol introduced for the first time. Lockpicking is a new mechanic as well, and C4, of Uncharted 4 multiplayer fame, will be present.
The Lost Legacy is an Uncharted series spin-off and it is a standalone game. Its length should be somewhere between The Last of Us: Left Behind and Uncharted 4. It is expected to be out and about by the end of 2017.
Oh, and if you were hoping for a Nathan Drake cameo, you are in for a disappointment – the hero of previous Uncharted games seems to have finished his galavanting days.
