Holiday events are a huge deal in Pokemon GO. They’re always a fun opportunity to earn a bunch of extra items, Stardust, and other goodies. The next big thing will probably be a Valentine’s Day event. Niantic haven’t made any official announcements yet, but that won’t stop us from speculating! Also, we’ll talk a little about the new Pokemon GO update.

Valentine’s Day in Pokemon GO Rumors

Again, we don’t know much about this. Easy guesses would be extra XP and Stardust. What we’ll have to do to get those bonuses, we’ll see. However, that’s not the interesting part. Rumors are circling about Pokemon breeding coming to Pokemon GO. If this is true, then, let’s face it, this would be the perfect moment to implement the new feature.

How might that work? Well, breeding two Pokemon might give you a special egg, for example. Or, we might be able two breed two same Pokemon, and know exactly what will hatch from that egg. Like, if you breed two Venosaurs, you’ll hatch one. This is all just speculation, especially considering that Nidorans are the only gender-specific Pokemon in the game so far. Either way, it’ll be fun to see how that rolls out.

Maybe we’ll just get gift boxes like we did during the Christmas event. A Valentine’s day sale doesn’t sound too far fetched. We’ll see.

New Update for Pokemon GO

The app is getting a new update to version 0.53.1 for Android and 1.23.1 for iOS. Here are the official patch notes from Niantic.

  • Updated Apple Watch to display Eggs obtained from PokéStops
  • Changed distance tracking to better account for GPS drift
  • Minor text fixes.

Yes, it’s largely cosmetic, other than point two. See, some sneaky trainers have been looking for ways to use GPS drift to their advantage. This would basically allow them to get some extra distance that they didn’t walk. Apparently, Niantic caught wind of that and want to put a stop to it.
