Ghost Recon Wildlands | The Music of the Wildlands feat Alain Johannes
One of the more important things in a successful game is a good music score. This audio component, added on top of the visual, combines into the ultimate experience. A lot of unforgettable moments from classic games’ owe part of their impact to the music they featured in the most memorable scenes.
The one person solely responsible for the music score in Ghost Recon Wildlands is Alain Johannes. He is a Chilean-American veteran multi-instrumentalist.
The main genres he was involved in the most are alternative, experimental, blues and hard rock… The array of instruments he plays includes guitar, drums, bass, keyboard, flute, clarinet and many more. He has had a role in the bands like What is This? (first band), Queens of the Stone Age, Them Crooked Vultures… He is not only a musician, but a songwriter, producer and a recording engineer.
In the trailer above, we can see him interacting with the other members of the audio team. Manu Bachet (music supervisor) and Ghislain Soufflet (audio director) talk about what it took to make the audio for Ghost Recon Wildlands.
Process of making the score went from showing the moments of the in-game scenery to Alain and letting him do the magic. The vast array of instruments he can play will for sure be present in the game as well.
At the beginning of the project, they even went to Bolivia, where the game takes place. The reason behind it was the need to have the in-game sounds be as close to reality as possible. You can expect to hear some of the indigenous instruments, like charangos and panpipes. It will be rather pleasant to hear all those instruments work together.
The Music of the Wildlands Trailer is just one in a row of the trailers Ubisoft has teased us with. You can also take a glimpse on the Operation Skydive – Gameplay Trailer and The Red Dot – Live Action Trailer.
You can expect to hear the score and play the game once it goes live on March 7, 2017 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
