Winter Holiday Event in Pokemon GO

Niantic have released an official announcement regarding their upcoming holiday event. To celebrate Christmas and the New Year, they’ve doubled down and prepared some cool stuff for us. The event has two stages, and here’s how it’ll go down.

The first part will last from the morning of December 25th until the afternoon of January 3rd PST. PokeStops will award single-use Incubators for the first spin of the day. Additionally, we’ll have a greater chance of getting an Egg containing one of the Generation 2 Pokemon. Everybody will have a better shot at hatching one of the new Pokemon, including free-to-play players.

The Pikachus wearing Santa hats will also hang around until January 3rd. If you haven’t caught one yet, or want to collect enough for a Raichu with a Christmas hat, you’ll have more time.

The second leg of the event will last from the afternoon of December 30th to the afternoon of January 8th PST. During that time, starter Pokemon (Bulbasaur, Chamander, Squirtle) and their Evolutions will spawn more often. Said Evolutions are Ivysaur and Venosaur, Charmeleon and Charizard, and Wartortle and Blastoise, respectively. Also, Lure Modules will last for 60, rather than 30 minutes.

This should be more than enough to get us out and about during the winter holidays. Just as well; it’ll be a great way to walk off the holiday weight gain.
