Mass Effect Andromeda Planet Sizes and Romance
Mass Effect: Andromeda is the upcoming sci-fi action RPG by BioWare. It’s probably the most wanted game of 2016, even though it won’t come out until 2017. The new installment in the popular franchise promises to be even bigger and better than its predecessors. However, the details about the game have been pretty scarce until now. Fortunately, thanks to PlayStation Magazine, we have a bit more info on planet sizes and the Romance mechanic.
According to Michael Gamble, producer at BioWare, the studio is trying to find the right balance for planet sizes. Basically, they’re trying to hit that sweet spot where the planets are just large enough to encourage exploration rather than hinder it. In his own words:
We’re trying to see where the limits are, and we don’t want to make something too small where there’s not enough exploration, but we also don’t want to make it too big where it’s empty and lifeless. We want to find that balance.
A vital aspect of the Mass Effect games has always been its nuanced dialogue options. Players always had a myriad of options to develop their character through interactions with NPCs. The choices you made here resonated fairly deeply in the game. The most outstanding part of the dialogue system, however, is the Romance mechanic. Your character can initiate a romantic relationship with pretty much all of the main NPCs. The mechanic will, of course, make a comeback in Andromeda:
We want to make sure we texture conversations with different levels of tone and different levels of choice in the responses that you actually pick… You’re always looking for opportunities in the dialogue to be flirtatious, or colder – and that should be obvious. By just reading the dialogue you’ll know if you’re taking it to the next level.
Mass Effect: Andromeda will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. We don’t now the exact release date yet, but it will probably hit the shelves in Spring 2017.
