If you’re looking for a full list of changes, make sure you check out the 0.8.33 changelog. The video above explains that although many people were happy with the rate at which their character leveled up, a part of the player base wasn’t thrilled with the old system. They’ve decided to shake things up, without losing what made the system work.

Before, you’d only received a boost when you won. You’d get a symbolic reward if your opponent decided you put up a fiar fight, but you wouldn’t advance towards the next level. That’s all in the past now. The new system will reward you even if you lose, provided you’ve won a round during the match. The only way to miss out on post-match rewards now is to lose with a 2:0 score.

The reward tiers and types of bounty haven’t changed. It might look like you need more work to get them, since the progress bar is now measured in rounds, not matches, but it’s essentially the same.

They’ve also introduced a separate XP system. It’s pretty standard fare – you’ll get XP for playing, with different factors affecting how much you end up with. Each time you level up, you’ll receive a specific reward. These include card kegs, cards, ore and scraps. The best thing about it is that it isn’t tied to winning.

If you’re below level 10, you’ll just be switched to the new system with no changes. If you’re above level 10, you’ll be brought down to that level. The new level cap is sitting at 100.
