Greyshire Grotto is one of the dungeons in Final Fantasy XV. It is a part of The Sword in the Waterfall quest, given to you by Talcott.

When you reach the end of the dungeon, you’ll find the Tomb of the Wanderer, which is one of the Royal tomb locations and you’ll get rewarded with an Armiger weapon. In this guide, we will show you how to find Greyshire Grotto Dungeon, all the secrets and collectibles in this dungeon, and how to defeat the Mindflayer boss.
Greyshire Grotto location
Start from the Burbost Souvenir Emporium Outpost and head down the stairs. Continue down the path and pass the Shieldhears. You can fight them to see if you are ready for the quest, because they are level 18. If you successfully defeat them, consider that you can finish this dungeon. The dungeon is located behind the waterfall, so continue up the path on the right side of the waterfall, and you will see the entrance to the dungeon.

Greyshire Grotto walkthrough
Greyshire Grotto is a frozen dungeon, that is full of alternate paths, dangerous drops and ice slides. As you venture deeper into the dungeon, watch out for the narrow ledges and sudden drops that will make you circle all the way back to be able to progress further.
At the entrance of the dungeon, you can find the Fossil Shell. The first mobs that you will encounter will be level 14 Flans. They are resilient to all types of weapons. After you deal with them, head down the slippery slope and you will dive into the lower level of the cave. There will be a pack of level 13 Imps there. They are not that hard to kill, but watch out as they can deal poison damage. The path will lead you on up. Along the way pick up Rusted Bit, and then head down on another ice-slide.
Quickest way through the Greyshire Grotto Dungeon.
If you hold on to the right side while sliding, you can come to a secret area where you can pick up Ether. Don’t worry if you miss it, because you can come from the other side also. Continue down the slope, and you will drop right next to Arachne. This is a level 12 mob, but it has 13000 HP and will spawn several tarantulas. It is vulnerable to lightning, so make sure you use lightning magic if you have it on you. Once you’ve dealt with the Arachne, continue along the way and absorb Ice Energy from the nearby magic post and pick up the Hi-Potion located there. Go forward and the road will lead you through 3 Flans.
Greyshire Grotto Secret area
If you look at the map you’ll probably notice that there is a section of the cave you couldn’t explore behind you. If you managed to land on the ledge while going down the ice slide, you might have been able to explore a part of that secret area. Otherwise, you should proceed through the small opening after you defeat the Flans. Collect the Carbon Bangle on the right side and go across the bridge. You will find yourself at the place where you picked up Ether. Proceed through the opening, and you will find Fossil Wood. Watch out now, because soon you will have to fight with Ronin, a secret mini-boss of this dungeon. His HP is somewhat similar to the Arachne, but Ronin is level 17, and his attacks are much more dangerous, so be careful. Plus, he will spawn 2 imps by his side. Make sure you kill the imps first, and then focus on Ronin. As you explore that part of the dungeon, you can collect Ammonite Fossil. Jump down and you will find yourself at the beginning of the dungeon.
As you fall down from the ice slide, go right and cross the narrow ledge.
From the fire magic source, go across the stone bridge.
Greyshire Grotto walkthrough continued
Go back to the place where you fought Arachne and, as you fall from the slide, look right. There will be a narrow ledge, and this will be the first ledge of two that you must pass on the way to the boss. Absorb Fire Energy along the way. To find the Friendship Band, continue to the right side, fight several imps and explore the area. Also, you can go into the arena on the bottom of the dungeon. It is guarded by Arachne, Imps and Tarantulas. On the ground, you will find another Rusted Bit, but make sure to explore the arena fully to find the Oracle Ascension Coin. If you explore the pathway on the lowest level, in the corner of the dungeon you will see Phoenix Down.
As you pass the lightning source, keep right, kill the Ronin and you will see the second ledge.
Important collectibles locations in Greyshire Grotto dungeon.
From the Fire source, head over the bridge and fight with the Arachne along the way (be careful not to fall). When you cross the stone bridge, there will be a Lightning source, and you can also find another Fossil Wood there. Keep going right from the Lightning source, kill the Ronin and you will see the second ledge. Cross over to enter the final part of the dungeon.
Mindflayer boss fight
Mindflayers are the last challenge in this dungeon. There are three Mindflayers spawning, so make sure you focus all your damage on one. When you kill the Mindflayer, go to the doors and open the Royal Tomb.
Once you defeated him, enter the Tomb of the Wanderer and collect the Armiger sword. This ends the Greyshire Glacial Grotto Dungeon.
Greyshire Glacial Grotto Locked Door
