Nioh Stream Reveals New Info
Koei Tecmo held an hour and a half long livestream this morning, showing off new Nioh footage and giving us some new information about the game. A brand new level was showcased, along with a previously unseen boss.
The new level they revealed is called Iga, and it’s set in a castle/mansion/dojo. It ends with a fight against a giant frog demon, who is much more nimble than you’d think. It starts around the middle of the video, if you want to skip straight to it.
If you’ve taken part in and beaten any of the public tests (the alpha or the beta), you’ll get an exclusive in-game item as a reward. Alpha testers who finished the demo will get the Onryoma helmet, while those who maged to beat the beta will receive the Hinoenma helmet. We don’t know anything about their stats, but they sure look nice. You can watch them being discussed around the 1:15:00 mark, if you know Japanese.
The other major piece of information is that Nioh will feature a system similar to transmogrification in WoW. You’ll be able to keep the stats of your favorite equipment, while changing the way it looks. It’s a great idea, which will stop you from sacrificing beautiful equipment for the sake of stats – since now you can have both.
There will be another livestream of the game, on December 20th. We don’t know what to expect, but they’re sure to give out some more fresh info. As for the game, it’s going to be released on February 7th, on Playstation 4. There’s no word of either an Xbox One or PC version for now, and it’s probably going to stay that way for the foreseeable future.
We’ve also heard about rewards for those who took part in the alpha and beta tests.
