Here are five things you should know before you buy Dishonored 2.
The city of Karnaca
The first Dishonored was set in the city of Dunwall. Now the majority of the game occurs on the tropical Isle of Serkonos. There, you will have the chance to visit the city of Karnaca, a coastal town that holds the key to restoring Emily to power. The atmosphere and the lightning of the town are much brighter, as the town lies south of Dunwall. But, insects called bloodflies have started hatching in corpses, ruining Karnaca’s initially beautiful landscape.
Emily Kaldwin as a playable character
In the first game, we had a chance to play as Corvo Attano, bodyguard of the empress. Her daughter, Emily Kaldwin, now all grown up and named Empress of the Empire of the Isles, will be the new protagonist in Dishonored 2. After an “otherworldly usurper” steals the throne from the Empress, players will have the choice of playing either as Corvo or Emily, as they travel to the city of Karnaca.
New set of powers
Players who know Corvo from the last game also know that he had a cool set of powers that were on the opposite sides of the chaos spectrum. From bending time to summoning a devouring swarm of rats – you had a choice: will you choose a non-lethal approach, or will you use aggression as your main weapon. Corvo will retain his skills, but they will be deepened and expanded from the original game.Emily, on the other hand, will have her own set of abilities. For now, we know that Far Reach will be used to pull enemies and objects to you. Mesmerize will be the skill that will put enemies to sleep. The list goes on, with Shadow Walk, Domino Power, Doppelganger and more.
Corvo will have a voice
Corvo Attano was a silent protagonist in the first game, while all the other characters had voice acting done for them. Now we will finally be able to hear Corvo, as he is voiced by Stephen Russel – the voice behind many characters in Bethesda’s games.
Flash and Steel mode
The highest difficulty setting in the new Dishonored game will have players traverse through the world without any of the special powers that are normally available. You will have to rely only on your gaming skills as you run, sneak and kill in the this playthrough, that will be reserved only for the most hardcore players.
