Mafia 3 Revenge Trailer Released
2K Games have released a new trailer for Mafia 3, their upcoming open world action game. The new video is called Revenge, and it shows off the events that lead up to the demise of Lincoln’s old gang.
After getting back from serving in the Vietnam War, Lincoln Cray was happy to see his friends again.
Everything was going well – he was a loved member of the community, and they welcomed him back with open arms. Sadly, the family became endebted to the Itallian mafia. The amount of money was no trifle, and the mob decided to wipe them all out and take over their part of town instead of waiting for a payment.
But they were careless. The bullet just grazed Lincoln’s head. It left a nasty scar, but didn’t do any lasting damage. Once he got well enough to get out of bed, he decided he’ll take over the town and have his vengeance on the mafia.
It’s a pretty thin excuse – they keep telling us that Lincoln is hurt, that he’s lost everything he ever loved, but all we get to see is a murderous psychopath who just got an excuse to go on a killing spree. As with many other protagonists in games of this kind, Lincoln is not an easy person to identify with – at least for now.
Of course, it’s all just promotional material. The game’s script might paint a different picture altogether, but the trailers are not a great start. We’ll know for sure whether it’s a tragic story of family, loyalty and betrayal once the game is out. It’s planned for release on October 7th, on PC, Playstation 4 and Xbox One. There’s a collector’s edition as well, with dog tags, artwork and the soundtrack on vynil, if you’re into that kind of thing.
