How to Swim & Dive | Just Cause 3

Just Cause 3 takes place in Medici, a Mediterranean archipelago comprised of several large islands and a dozen smaller ones. You’ll mostly travel by chopper or wingsuit, but sometimes you’ll be required to dive into the water and go for a swim. The swimming works differently to most games and people are having trouble coming to terms with it. This guide will show you how to swim in Just Cause 3.

How to swim in JC3

There will be situations where you end up in a body of water against your will, like after a challenge, or a failed wingsuit attempt. When you do, there’s no need to panic – the way out is easy. If you’re close to the shore, you’ll have to swim there.

Here’s how to actually swim:

• Point the camera in the direction you want (right stick)
• Move forward (up with the left stick)

If you want to dive and explore the depths, all you have to do is point the camera down and press forward. This will make Rico submerge and start diving. Keep in mind that his oxygen supply is limited – you’ll have to resurface for air from time to time.

If you fall into the water far from the mainland, the game will spawn a jet ski nearby after a few seconds. If you don’t want to swim, but aren’t far enough for the game to help you, keep your eyes peeled for speed boats. You can use your grappling hook to hijack them.
