Weapon Mods & Customization | Fallout 4
Weapon customization is extremely detailed in Fallout 4. You can change every part on almost any weapon you own, provided you have the materials and access to a workbench.
Each mod has to be crafted before you can install it, and each requires a different quantity of raw materials. If you’re missing some items, you can tag them for search, which will highlight them in the world when you explore. After you’ve altered a weapon to your taste, you’ll be able to rename it as well.
We’ll have more information about weapon customization once the game launches.
This guide will show you how to customize weapons in Fallout 4, how to craft and use weapon mods in Fallout 4.

- You need to have the appropriate perk – Gun Nut for regular weapons, Science for energy ones.
- You need the required crafting materials.

You don’t need gun-nut or anything to upgrade weapon. All you do is strip really good mods off of weapons you find or buy and put them on a single weapon of that type. that keep. This works best when you find a weapon with a good legendary quality, and then all you do is put better mods on that weapon from other weapons of that type. As you go up in levels you’ll find weapons that are rather plain but have some killer mod you don’t have . Powerful receivers are an example. Take such weapons and build a standard mod, put that on that weapon and then put that mod on your own weapon. None of these actions require any gun nut skill or science skill at all. Keep your intelligence at 1 and always go “idiot Savant”. maybe take intel to 2 for the stimpac perk at some time but no further.
Doing all this makes Inteligence, and any gun-nut and science perks unneeded for all weapons , unless you want science for plasma/cryo mines and grenades.
This is the easiest way to make killer weapons . Often doubling or tripling the damage of such. Danse’s laser rifle can be brought up to 105 damage ,rof 50(9 shot mag currently ) ,215 range, 90% accuracy , no gun skill required. Just finding all the best mods on other lasers either looted or bought, and replace the mods on it.
