Fallout 4 Crafting Will Be Completely Optional
In a recent interview with GamesRadar, Bethesda’s Pete Hines has said that you won’t have to rely on crafting to get through the game, but the system is designed in such a way that you’ll want to.
Being the mayor of an irradiated suburb of Boston may well be rewarding in and of itself, but the developers understand not everyone will want to. Same goes for tinkering – you’ll be able to fine tune weapons and enhance them with mods, or just pry stock ones from the cold, dead hands of a Fiend.
Fallout 4 is scheduled to launch on November 10th on PC, Playstation 4 and Xbox One.

It’s a completely optional, freeform thing that you can do, if that’s what you want to do. If you don’t care about that and you just want to play quests and play side quests, and finish the main quest and that sort of thing then you can just ignore all of this. Or do as much or as little as you want. This is great news, obviously. While crafting has been all the rage these past few years, and lots of players like having a home in a game, some people do prefer playing the lone wanderer role in Fallout. Choice is always good.
