The Witcher 3 New Footage Shown At GDC 2015

Fresh footage of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has been shown on GDC 2015, during Nvidia’s conference. It’s only a couple of minutes long, since it was only meant to showcase Nvidia’s streaming technology, but some new environments can be seen, and the game does look stunning.

The video features Geralt exploring a forest while the sun slowly sinks across the sky. The lightning engine has some impressive moves, and gameplay designer Damien Monnier, who can be heard talking in the background, claims the game isn’t even running on its highest setting. CD Projekt RED isn’t planning on showing the game’s look on the highest setting at all – they want players who buy it to get “a slap across the face” when they see it in action.

Apart from traipsing in the fields, the video shows off some combat as well. Geralt dispatches a couple of seemingly harmless wolves using a slowing trap and his blade, before progressing to bandits. During the second fight, he uses the Igni sign and his sword to fight one bandit, while another shoots arrows towards him from a safe distance. You can see him deflecting the arrows with his sword, thanks to a passive ability. If you want to know more about how skills and abilities will work in the game, go here.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be released on May 19th, on PC, Playstation 4 and Xbox One.
