TankHead Launches Today

In a see of video game announcements, every now and then, something catches my eyes. This time it is a trailer for TankHead. This vehicular roguelite looks like it could really provide some fun and it is out today on Epic Games Store. Developed by Toronto-based indie studio Alpha Channel, TankHead is their debut title, combining exploration, strategy, and intense tank-based combat. First revealed as a surprise announcement at this year’s Day of the Devs: The Game Awards Edition, it’s already making waves with its distinct take on the roguelite formula.

Survive the Wasteland

Set in the war-ravaged world of ECA, TankHead puts players in the shoes of Whitaker, a sleepwalker who tele-projects his consciousness into a small drone. Why? To scavenge high-value items, of course. But survival in the ECA is no easy feat. Whitaker relies on a futuristic drone called the Needle to pilot his tank, battling through dangerous landscapes teeming with hostile vehicles and mutated creatures.

At the end of each mission, players face off against the real titans of the ECA: the TankHeads. These massive war machines will test your strategy and skill in battles that demand more than just firepower.

Build Your Beast

Customization is at the heart of TankHead. From weapons and armor to motors and wheels, you’ll have countless options to outfit your tank. Combat is tactical, requiring precision targeting to expose enemy weak points. The more efficient your fight, the better your post-battle rewards. Scavenge carefully to upgrade your rig or stockpile resources for future missions.

But it’s not just about your loadout; TankHead challenges players to master the intricacies of its tank control system. You’ll need to skillfully maneuver your tank body and turret independently, keeping your armor aligned with threats while dodging attacks on vulnerable components.

Whether you’re a roguelite veteran or a vehicular combat fan, TankHead seems to offer a refreshing mix of high-stakes strategy and heart-pounding action.
