Upgrading your gear is one of the most fun and satisfying parts of any RPG. Naturally, Dragon’s Dogma 2 likewise features this gameplay mechanic, which will allow you to enhance your weapons and armor to make them even better. Though, this option isn’t available right from the start of the game, and the way that this works in DD2 requires a bit of explaining. So in this guide, we are going to show you how to upgrade your weapons and armor in Dragon’s Dogma 2.
How to Upgrade Weapons in Dragon’s Dogma 2 – Enhance Equipment
The way that this works in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is that you are going to need to first find a shop that is equipped with a forge. Typically, this means a smithy. We encountered our first such shop in the Merchant Quarter in Vernworth. Specifically, Roderick’s Smithy there. When you talk to the proprietor of one such establishment, you will see that there is an “Enhance Equipment” option. Select this to beging the upgrading process.
But finding a smithy is only the start. To upgrade your weapons and armor, you’ll also need the right materials. Below every upgradable item, you’ll see the list of materials that you need to enhance it. The first tier will often only require gold, while higher enchant levels need both gold and materials. These include, for example, Copper Ore, Harpy Pinion, and so on. You can only upgrade a weapon or armor a maximum of three times. Another important consideration here are different Styles of Smithing. These determine what sort of stat increase you’re going to get. Some favor an all-around modest increase, while other styles will give a significant increase to only one stat (such as Might or Magick). To give an example – the Vermundian style of smithing is an all-around style that provides a moderate increase to all relevant stats of the item in question.
