How to Activate PVP in Skull and Bones
Can’t figure out how to activate PVP in Skull and Bones? Of course you can’t. Ubisoft have radically changed course on the game several times, resulting in a large swath of the player base being confused as to what it even is. But don’t you worry. In this guide, we are going to explain how to enable PVP in Skull and Bones and how to engage in PVP activities. Here we go.
How to Enable PVP in Skull and Bones
Technically speaking, there’s nothing you can do to enable PVP in Skull and Bones, because you only activate it during certain events. As far as we can tell (and granted, it’s still early days), there’s no way to toggle PVP on or off. Rather, there’s a handful of events that you can opt to participate in, and only then will you be able to start fighting other players. As I’ve said up top, I understand why there’s so much confusion. The messaging around the game has been extremely confusing and overhauled several times. The middle solution the devs seem to have landed on is what I can only call “selective PVP.” Not ideal for those of you that were looking forward to blasting your friends out of the water, but it is what it is.
So, once more for the cheap seats in the back: you activate PVP in Skull and Bones by participating in select events. You can’t just activate it whenever you choose. But which events let me fight other players, I hear you ask? Well, at time of writing, your options are Cutthroat Cargo (fight for a legendary map and then take it to the marked location to get a reward), Helm Wager (when collecting Pieces of Eight, you can choose to double the amount but risk other players robbing you) and Hostile Takeover (sink as many enemy ships as you can; the first to reach the requisite number of points wins). Honestly, not a bad compromise. I think it’s better than the ever-present threat of an overleveled crew wiping you and all your hard work.
