A Gift for You is started in the southwestern part of the Round City, in the Residential District. I visited the place early on in the game to unlock all viewpoints. Enigma is located inside a house and you’ll have to solve a little puzzle to go in. The front door is completely impossible to interact with. This changes if you reached the final act of the game and did a certain investigation. The roof also offers no access points. Backyard has another inoperable door, but above it is a barred window. This usually means that on the other side is an opening. Go to the street side of the house and then climb the balcony above the entrance. There’s a windows there you can throw a dagger through. Destroy the thing barring the backyard window and then go around to enter the house.

Immediate understanding was that I need to find “where men speak the opposite of poetry”. Since the rest mentions sentencing I am thinking a court is where I need to go. If you reached the final act of the game you’ll be familiar with its location. Go to the north part of the Round City and then you’ll find Mazalim Courts. The second part of the mystery mentions a fountain in the west of the square. Indeed, there are several fountains in Mazalim Courts.

I then went straight for the big fountain at the west entrance into the courts. A Gift for You Enigma was nowhere to be found. I then went to the two on the other side, hoping someone messed up the instructions in the game. No luck there either. Having the eagle in the air didn’t help. After scouring the grounds of the court I suddenly saw a fountain attached to the west wall of the court building. Inside it was the familiar shine of the enigma puzzle solution.

The house you started the enigma in is occupied by a famous poetess in the game called Arib. You’ll probably first meet her when you do the House of Wisdom related main quest investigation. She also appears in the final act of the game. This is when the house becomes unlocked and you get to learn more about her. Al-Jahiz owns Arib’s house in the game. In history, he was a prolific prose writer and scientist that wrote some of the earliest natural selection theories. He is Arib’s patron in the game.
