NBA 2K24 Next-Gen vs Current-Gen Differences, Which Version to Buy
If you can’t decide which version of NBA 2K24 to buy, the differences between next-gen and current-gen will probably be the deciding factor. That’s why, in this guide, we are going to explain what the new-gen version has to offer versus last-gen, or old-gen. I mean, the answer should be obvious, but just in case it isn’t, keep reading.
Which NBA 2K24 Version to Buy, Next-Gen or Current-Gen
If you can afford to, I would strongly recommend you buy the next-gen version of NBA 2K24 and not current-gen (or last-gen, or old-gen). The PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions just offer a bevy of features that the “lower” versions don’t. To begin with, only new-gen will offer crossplay. Also, the Xbox X/S and PlayStation 5 versions of NBA 2K24 will feature ProPlay technology. This tech basically allows developers to use real footage to create animations. The older consoles just can’t pull that off. On top of that, the next-gen console players will get access to The W (for WNBA fans to begin their league career) and MyNBA (a new version of MyGM, or Franchise Mode). Last, but certainly not least, next-gen players will get to explore The City, and old-gen people will be stuck in The Neighborhood, as per usual at this point.
So, yeah, that’s why you should buy the next-gen version of NBA 2K24 instead of the current-gen or last-gen version. That’s not to say the old-gen version has nothing to offer; you’ll still get to play MyTeam, MyCareer, and even the new mode called Mamba Moments (which will presumably revolve around Kobe Bryant). And it’s not like The Neighborhood is a bad place to be, as you can see in the tweet below. However, it most likely will not offer the same scope and number of activities to do. At least, that’s what the case has been up till now. Again, it won’t be barren, just… less.
