How to Level Up Piloting Skill Fast in Starfield

There are several ways to level up your Starfield Piloting skill fast, but one of them absolutely reigns supreme. Make your way to the MAST building in New Atlantis. Inside, you’ll find the Vanguard Pilot Simulator. If you’ve played through the Supra El Ultra quest, the one where you join the Vanguards as a faction, you will be familiar with this thing already. Yes, even if you’ve completed the mission, you’ll be able to play with the simulator as much as you like. Doesn’t matter which tier you reach; so long as you’re destroying enemy ships, the Piloting skill will keep shooting up. If you do want to get to the highest tier and get the 20k prize, check out our Vanguard Piloting Exam Tier 6 Completion guide for tips (well, cheats). Depending on how well you do, the skill will be maxed out in about 45 minutes, give or take.

And there you go, that’s the easiest way to level up your Piloting skill in Starfield fast. Another method that’s half-decent is to join the Freestar Rangers faction in Akila City. That’s on the planet of Akila, in the Cheyenne system. They always have a bunch of space cop missions for you to complete, and those will always have enemy vessels ripe for the picking. However, the Vanguard Pilot Simulator is the absolute best choice. And with all of that said, here’s what the skill unlocks on each level.

  • Rank one – You can now utilize ship thrusters.
  • Rank two – Increased ship turning rate and maneuverability.
  • Rank three – Unlock the ability to pilot Class B ships (medium firepower and mobility).
  • Rank four – Unlock the ability to pilot Class C ships (high firepower but low mobility).
