BG3 Deliver Nere's Head, Can't Get Head Solution

Baldur’s Gate 3 is a game that gives you a lot of options on how you want to handle nearly every aspect of it. Needless to say, this also extends to combat as well. There are many, many way of dealing with enemies – from simply hitting them with your weapons, to blasting them apart with spells, all the way to using your environment as a weapon and utilizing it to take down your foes. But sometimes, this can lead to problems. For example, when you need to get Nere’s head, but his body is – for one reason or another – burned or otherwise destroyed. So is there a solution for when you need to deliver Nere’s Head in BG3, but you can’t get his head? Luckily, there is something you can do, and we are going to explain what that is right here in our guide.

How to Deliver Nere’s Head if You Can’t Get His Head in Baldur’s Gate 3

The first thing that you need to be aware of here is that you should strive to kill Nere using a regular physical attack. So once you get him to low HP, be sure to switch over to normal weapon attacks to finish him off. But what can you do if you have burned his body, or pushed him into the nearby lava? Well, the first thing is to make sure that you don’t try and loot his body while it is still in the lava. If you try that, you will automatically fail and get the “Couldn’t retrieve Nere’s head”.

The solution here is to send Karlach (or another character with Fire Res and a lot of HP) into the lava after the body. But don’t loot it and instead throw it so that it is outside of the lava. If you interact with the body then, you should get the option to remove Nere’s Head. Alternatively, you can also pick up his entire body and lug it around with you and try again to get this interaction where you claim his head. Try talking to all of the mushrooms again to see if the body can now be interacted with.
