Infernal Iron Baldur's Gate 3
In our Infernal Iron Baldur’s Gate 3 guide, we are going to show you where you can find Infernal Iron in BG3 and then explain what it’s actually for. It seems like it’s important for something, but the game doesn’t tell you what for. You might even be tempted to sell them off, but trust us, you really shouldn’t if you have Karlach in your party. Let’s get into it.
Baldur’s Gate 3 Infernal Iron
Infernal Iron in Baldur’s Gate 3 is a material with no immediately obvious use. We’ll get to that in the next section. The first chink of Infernal Iron we’ve found was in Blighted Village. It’s in the house in the north of the settlement, and you reach it by going into the basement and climbing up the ladder. If you try to open the chest in the basement without disarming the trap, it’ll explode the ladder, so be careful.
The second shard of Infernal Iron that you can find is in the goblin camp in the Shattered Sanctum. You can find it in the room in the north of the area, behind Dror Ragzlin’s seat. You do have to unlock the door to get to all that sweet loot, and there’s a lot of cool stuff to raid. Including the Infernal Iron, of course.
How to Use Infernal Iron in BG3
You use Infernal Iron in Baldur’s Gate 3 or BG3 to progress Karlach‘s companion quest. See, if you talk to the tiefling blacksmith Dammon in the Emerald Grove, he will reveal that Karlach has an Infernal Engine inside her, and the thing is overheating. It could kill her. But if you bring him some Infernal Iron, he can repair the Engine and stave off disaster. He will then meet you again in Baldur’s Gate, at which point he hopes to have a more permanent solution. That’s a matter for a different guide. Long story short: you use Infernal Iron to progress Karlach’s quest by giving the material to Dammon, who then uses it to fix your barbarian’s Infernal Engine.
