What is PokeStop Showcase Pokemon GO

The PokeStop Showcase in Pokemon GO is a new type of competition that Niantic have added. Basically, you enter one of your Pokemon into the Showcase, and they get ranked based on their weight and height. At least, that’s the case with the first such event, in which you have to enter a Squirtle. See what they did there? Squirtle is #007 in the Pokedex, and the first Showcase will take place during the 7th Anniversary Party event. Of course, this is the first of many of these competitions to come, so don’t fret if you miss out on this one. Okay, now that we know that, how exactly does all of this work? Let’s get into the nitty-gritty.

How to Use Showcase Pokemon GO

To use the Showcase PokeStop in Pokemon GO, you first need to find a participating PokeStop. You’ll recognize it by its unique icon, as shown in the image above. Tap the PokeStop and select Showcase, then choose the Pokemon you want to enter into the competition. You’ll still be able to use this Pokemon normally, and you can swap in a different Pokemon later on. Switching Pokemon can be done remotely, but entering one cannot. Also, it has to be the required creature (in this case, Squirtle). Each Showcase stop can “house” up to 200 Pokemon, and an individual Pokemon can only be entered in one Showcase.

Pokemon GO Showcase Rewards

At the end of the Pokestop Showcase, everyone that entered a Pokemon gets rewards. Those that ranked in the top get more stuff, like a Star Piece or an Incubator, perhaps and some Great Balls etc. But everyone gets some XP and Stardust. The winner of the Showcase also gets a medal, which goes towards the Showcase Star medal. You get the Bronze medal for one Showcase victory, Silver requires ten, Gold requires fifty, and Platinum unlocks at a hundred victories. According to the announcement, you can collect rewards “via the Today View once the Showcase concludes” or “directly from the PokeStop.”

I appreciate your overview. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. I will say I believe Niantic has some glitches. I placed my Squirtles in 3 showcase pokestops. Unfortunately once I did that there doesn’t seem to be anyway to access my Pokemon to switch one out remotely or at the poke stop for one that would have higher ranking. I am stuck just waiting until the end. It would be great to be able to pull it, as well, from the showcase but I haven’t figured out how, though I read in another post that it was possible. Just thought I would share my experience in case other run into the same.
