Shield Surf Without Damage in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom
Shield Surfing was one of the most fun moves you could pull off in Zelda BoTW. You take out your shield and use it to “surf” along the ground or other such surfaces. Besides looking really cool, this also allows you to get to certain places by sliding on your shield. You’ll be happy to know that this option is also available in Zelda TotK as well. Though here it works somewhat differently. The biggest issue with this move is that you end up damaging your shield. And while this is also true in Zelda TotK, too, there is a way to shield surf without taking damage in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. We’re going to show you how this can be done.
How to Shielf Surf Without Damage in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom
The secret to this lies in the Fuse ability. If you haven’t yet gotten it, you can unlock it in the In-Isa Shrine. The way this works is that an item that you fuse to your shield is going to increase its durability. So while you won’t take no damage at all, it will take a lot more damage before your shield gets destroyed. Even so, it’s best if you use a low-quality shield and then fuse it with another disposable item. This way, you won’t need to waste your best shields on shield surfing.
Speaking of which, the shield surf controls have also changed from BotW. The new commands are as follows: Parry (ZL) + Jump (X) + A. Doing this will cause Link to take out his shield and hop on it to begin shield surfing. This move can come in handy in several spots in the game. For example, you can use this to slide along rails.
