Elden Ring Ray Tracing on PC, PS5 & Xbox
A new patch for Elden Ring has just been released and with it – a very unexpected surprise. Namely, Ray Tracing has been added to ER! This option is now available for the PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X. Of course, to be able to use it, you first need to turn it on. We are going to explain how to do this, as well as everything else that you need to know about Elden Ring Ray Tracing on the PC, PS5, and Xbox right here in our guide.
Elden Ring Ray Tracing Feature on PC, PS5 & Xbox
To begin with, you need to be aware of how this works. Ray Tracing has been added to ambient occlusion and shadows, but not to the reflections as well. Also, while PS5 and Xbox Series X support Ray Tracing, you will likely experience some performance issues – such as decreased frame rate – when you turn it on. Specifically for PS5, Raytracing can only be enabled at 30 FPS. And as for PC Ray Tracing, here are the minimum and recommended technical specs in order to be able to run Elden Ring with it turned on:
- OS – Minimum: Windows 10 / Recommended: Windows 11.
- Processor – Minimum: Intel Core i5-10600K or AMD Ryzen 5 3600XT / Recommended: Intel Core i7-10700K or AMD Ryzen 7 3800XT.
- Memory – Minimum: 16 GB / Recommended: 16 GB.
- Graphics Card – Minimum: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti, 8 GB or AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT, 12 GB / Recommended: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti, 8 GB or AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT, 16 GB.
- Recommended Graphics Settings – If you meet the minimum system requirements: 1080p – Low quality – Low Ray Tracing / If you meet the recommended system requirements: 1080p – High quality – High Ray Tracing.
Now, as for how to turn Ray Tracing on, it depends on the device you are playing Elden Ring on. For PS5 and Xbox Series X, go to the Settings Menu. From there, go to Game Options > Ray Tracing and turn it on. As for the PC – Settings Menu > Graphics > Ray Tracing Quality and set the Ray Tracing according to your system specs.
Very early in your exploration of Elden Ring world you will find out that you need to prepare your character for different tasks. You'll need to learn how to use Ashes of War, how to two-hand weapons, or use magic spells during the course of your adventures. Many secrets are also waiting for you, such as, a hostile NPC Sellen that doesn't let you see her shop, an invisible man in a bush, or a huge turtle with a bell that lets you duplicate some very important items.
