How to Save Game Progress in Sons of the Forest

To save your game in Sons of the Forest, you first need to build some type of shelter, as we’ve said. The easiest way to do so is to make a primitive tent. You will need two things to do so. One is a large, square tarp. You can find these by looting the luggage and boxes that have washed ashore. Once you have one of those, take your axe and chop down one of the thin trees. Not one of the thick ones; those won’t necessarily work. Plus, they require way more effort. You’ll need two sticks. Obviously, each player on the server should have a separate tent, just in case. Each of you can build your own, of course, but you can also have one person building while others go scavenging.

So, in order to save your game progress in Sons of the Forest, the next step is to actually construct the tent. Equip the tarp and lay it flat on the ground. Then, equip one of the sticks and interact with one of the corners of the long side. You’ll see an arrow appear. Interact with it, and boom, you’ll lift one of the corners. Do the same on the other corner of the long side, and boom, you have shelter. I say tent, but it’s more of a lean-to of sorts, if we’re being honest. Either way, you can now save the game by going “into” the tent. The game will prompt you to save if you want to.
