Witcher 3 PS4 to PS5 Save Transfer Explained
In our Witcher 3 PS4 to PS5 Save Transfer Explained guide, we are going to explain how to import your save from PS4 to PS5 in the next gen update. We’ll also show you how to enable cross saves first, as well as point out some unfortunate limitations to the system. So, let’s begin, shall we?
How to Transfer PS4 Save to PS5 in Witcher 3 Next Gen
To transfer your PS4 save to the PS5 in the Witcher 3 next gen update, you have to jump through several hoops. The first step is to update the PS4 edition to version 4.0.0. From there, go to the Load screen and press L2 to enable cross-progression. Then, hop into the game and create a save. Don’t start a new game, mind you. Now, open the new gen version of the game and enable cross-progression there, too. You should now be able to load the save you just made. You might have to start a new game on PS5 in order to get the option to get access cross-progression. And that’s all there is to it. Well, not really.
Now that we know how to transfer your PS4 save to PS5 in the Witcher 3 next gen update, it’s time for some deflating news. According to IGN, you need to own either the Complete Edition or the Game of the Year Edition of the game in order to import your save. Those of you that have a regular edition, well, I’m afraid you’re out of luck. You’ll have to start from the beginning. I don’t know if CDPR is going to change this over time. If we’re wrong about this, and there is a way to transfer your safe in the regular edition, let us know in the comments.
