How to Unlock Competitive Play in Overwatch 2

To unlock the Competitive Play in Overwatch 2, you have to complete a specific challenge. Well, you first need to go through the FTUE (or first time user experience) part of the game, of course. Then, however, it’s time to go ahead and win fifty Quick Play matches. That is the requirement you need to meet in order to gain access to Competitive Play modes. You can check this for yourself, by the way. Navigate over to Challenges in the main menu. Find the “Competitive” tab in the upper left corner of the screen and select that. Under “Competitive Play Qualification,” you’ll see what you need to do in order to gain access to competitive modes – win fifty games in Quick Play.

And there you go, that’s the Overwatch 2 challenge you need to complete in order to unlock Competitive Play. Now, this is only for newbies, of course. As Blizzard put it: “This only affects accounts made on or after the October 4 release date: anyone who has Competitive unlocked prior will have access to Competitive in Overwatch 2.” As for why newcomers have to win those fifty matches, there’s an explanation for that, too: “This gives new players time to prepare for the higher expectations that come with Competitive, while veteran players don’t feel discouraged by teammates who have less experience. In the process of unlocking Competitive, we analyze new player skill levels to optimize matchmaking in a way that feels good to everyone.”
