Is Next Owlcat Game Going to be Starfinder
Developer Owlcat Games made a name for themselves with Pathfinder: Kingmaker. While the game suffered from bugs and other technical issues upon release, it was hailed as the best Pathfinder videogame adaptation to date. Their next title, Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, garnered even more success and praise. WoTR has been out for some time now, and fans are wondering what’s next in store for Owlcat. Recently, a teaser on their website seems to indicate that the next Owlcat game is going to be in the Starfinder setting. But is there any truth to these rumors? Well, that’s what we’re here to find out.
Is Owlcat’s Next Game Going to be Set in the Starfinder Setting?
Recently, a what is next link appeared on Owlcat’s website. When you click on it, it takes you to an animated backdrop of outer space – with two planets and an asteroid field being visible. This is accompanied by “A new adventure is coming” message. So, what could this mean? Well, the most obvious answer is that this is a teaser for their next game, and that it is going to be set in the Starfinder setting. Starfinder is the science-fiction counterpart to Pathfinder. Both of these settings are developed by Paizo, so there is a lot of overlap when it comes to the rules, races, and so on.
Though, Starfinder is still pretty different from Pathfinder. Instead of swords and bows, you will be fighting with laser guns and other high-tech gadgets. Instead of one planet – Golarion – you will explore an entire solar system. Fans where wondering what Owlcat could possibly do to top the epicness of Wrath of the Righteous, which brought Mythic levels and battles against Demon Lords, and this seems like a very good place to take their games next – all the way to the stars. Of course, this still hasn’t been confirmed yet, but odds are very much in favor of it being a full-fledged Starfinder title.
We will no doubt learn more about this upcoming project very soon, and until we do – we have the Enhanced Edition of Wrath of the Righteous to look forward to sometime this Fall, as well as the Second Season of new DLCs.
