In our Sonic Origins Price, Release Date, Pre Order & More guide, we’re going to try and clear up the mess that Sega has made through poor messaging. First off, we’re going to give you the launch date for the game, which isn’t much of an issue. Then, we’ll dive deep into the different editions and DLC packs that the developers have planned for Sonic Origins, and have done a really bad job of communicating. Here goes.

Sonic Origins Release Date 2022

The release date of Sonic Origins is Thursday, June 23rd, 2022. This is especially neat, since the very first Sonic game came out on June 23rd, 1991. In other words, this collection is going to be a (potentially) fun way to celebrate the 31st birthday of the fastest thing alive. Sonic Origins is a collection of remasters of the first three Sonic games (including Sonic & Knuckles, the second half of the third game) and Sonic CD. I assume that super-fans probably already own these games in some capacity, but this is a good opportunity to purchase touched-up versions with new content for a total of forty bucks. Speaking of…

Sonic Origins 2022 Price, Standard & Deluxe Edition

The price of the Standard Edition of Sonic Origins 2022 is forty dollars, as we’ve already said (it’s $39.99, but you get what I mean), while the Deluxe Edition will cost you forty-five dollars ($44.99, to be exact). The Standard Edition includes just the four games, but if you pre-order it, you’ll also get the contents of the Start Dash Pack – 100 Bonus Coins, Mirror Mode (unlockable in-game) and the Letterbox Background. On the other hand, the Deluxe Edition comes with all the planned extra content. Here’s a list of what that entails, according to the official website.

• Start Dash Pack – only if pre-ordered, contents detailed above
• Premium Fun Pack – Hard Missions, Letterbox background, character animation in main menu, camera controls over main menu islands, character animation during music islands
• Classic Music Pack – Additional music tracks from the MegaDrive/Genesis titles

Sonic Origins 2022 DLC & Versions

The whole matter of the Sonic Origins 2022 DLC and versions has been causing a lot of confusion, which we’ve hopefully cleared up a bit in the previous section. Now, we’re going to detail just the contents of each DLC pack. The prices of each individual pack are still unknown, so we can’t help with that, unfortunately. Here goes.

First off, we have the Start Dash Pack. It comes with a hundred bonus coins, the Letterbox Background, and Mirror Mode, which is unlockable in-game. Not sure what that means; it might mean that you have to unlock it even if you purchase it, or that you just get immediate access if you do. This pack comes for free as a pre-order bonus in both the Standard and Deluxe Editions.

The Sonic Origins Premium Fun Pack features the most extra content: hard missions, the Letterbox background again, character animations and camera controls in the main menu, and character animation during music islands. It is a part of the Deluxe Edition. Lastly, there’s the Classic Music Pack, which contains extra music tracks from the Genesis/MegaDrive games. It is also a part of the Deluxe Edition.

In other words, you won’t be missing out on much if you just get the Standard Edition. Just a bunch of cosmetic extras and the hard levels, which will probably not be much to write home about. Is it worth the extra five bucks? That’s up to you to decide.
