How to Get Sun Stone in Pokemon GO

To get a Sun Stone in Pokemon GO, there are several things you can do. The first one is to spin every Gym and PokeStop you come across, of course. Try and find an area that has as many Stops as possible, and spin them all. The likelihood of receiving a Sun Stone this way is not great, but it is something. More importantly, when you complete your seven-day streak of spinning at least one PokeStop every day, you might receive a Sun Stone as a reward. Your odds will be higher, too. Lastly, sometimes event-exclusive Field Research tasks can reward you with this Evolution item.

There are five Pokemon in Pokemon GO whose evolutions require a Sun Stone. At least, that’s the case at the time of writing this guide; there might be more of them by the time you read this. All five evolutions just require Candy and the Sun Stone; you don’t have to worry about what time of day it is, or the weather, or anything like that. So, here’s the list of all five evolutions that require the Sun Stone.

  • Cottonee – evolves into Whimsicott with 50 Cottonee Candy + Sun Stone

  • Sunkern – evolves into Sunflora with 50 Sunkern Candy + Sun Stone
